Description of the Game

Take a colorful run through cities around the world in this fast-paced endless runner. Dash as fast as you can, dodge the oncoming trains, and collect coins! Help Jake, Tricky, Fresh and friends escape from the grumpy Inspector and his dog.

Subway Surfers is filled with fun features including hoverboard surfing, paint powered jetpacks, and quick power-ups. Collect as many power-ups as you can to help you move up the leaderboards. Complete mission objectives on your runs to unlock fun rewards.

The game is frequently updated with new content, including new cities, characters, hoverboards, and limited-time events. So you can personalize your characters with various outfits, accessories, and hoverboards whenever you feel like.

Why this works

With its simple and intuitive swipe controls, Subway Surfers is fun for all ages. Swiping up, down, left, and right trying to avoid the obstacles keeps you engaged while teaching you the art of speed and agility. Keeping up with the increasing speed will require attention and focus–most players report feeling more focused after playing Subway Surfers.

As you play you are rewarded with coins, power-ups, and unlockable content for achieving specific objectives or milestones. These rewards provide a sense of accomplishment and progression, making you focus to do even better than your previous try. Overall, Subway Surfers facilitates a “flow” like experience, where you are fully absorbed in the gameplay, lose track of time, and experience a state of deep enjoyment and engagement.

Why Task Switching matters

Task switching is our ability to shift attention between one task and another (sometimes called multitasking). As you play Subway Surfers you’ll notice how you’ll need to switch your focus between the immediate path and the upcoming challenges (and rewards), requiring quick decision-making. Additionally, task switching is crucial as you approach track switch points. You must quickly assess the situation, identify the safest track to switch to, and execute the switch with precise timing. Mastering task switching is key to surfing the rails to achieve high scores.
